Vata is composed of space and air. Women who are dominantly Vata are quick-minded, usually flexible, and resourceful. They are creative, energetic, and lively. But when they are out of balance, their menopause can be plagued with sleep issues, digestive issues, and mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and fear. Ayurveda gives the Vatta woman the tools to be grounded and rooted in this world as they transition through menopause.
Pitta is composed of fire and water. Dominantly Pitta women are natural-born leaders, ambitious and determined. They make things happen and inspire forward momentum! But when the Pitta woman is out of balance, her menopause is marked by liver disorders, heartburn/acid reflux, excessive joint pain due to inflammation, and excess irritability, anger, and harsh judgement. She is the hamster on the wheel, going and going until her body screams. As a result, Pitta women are at risk of a sudden stroke, heart attack, and chronic fatigue/burn-out, as they fail to listen to the whispers of the body so that the body has to scream for Pitta women to listen..
Kapha is composed of earth and water. Women who are dominantly Kapha are compassionate, patient, born healers/caregivers. They have a deep well of warmth to share with the world. But when the Kapha woman is out of balance, menopause leads to inflammation, weight gain, excess mucus, lack of motivation (laziness or lethargy), and emotional issues of greed/envy. The Kapha woman tends to give so much of herself to others that she forgets to give back to herself. As a result, she often finds herself drained of vitality. Ayurveda teaches her deep health through nutrition and sacred self-care practices without guilt.

Q. Is Ayurveda safe?
A. Ayurveda has been practiced and used to treat and cure illness and imbalance for approximately 5,000 years. Like any system of medicine, there is always a small risk of adverse consequences. It’s important to follow the advice of a qualified practitioner. I have over 17 years of certified practice, plus a lifetime of guided learning under my grandfather and great grandfather, both Ayurvedic healers. Biohacking Menopause – The Aryuvedic Way offers suggestions on how to ease, reduce, or even eliminate your menopausal symptoms through dietary adjustments and self-care practices such as yoga and meditation.
